POLITICO Playbook: FIRST IN PLAYBOOK
“The United Auto Workers are endorsing independent DAN OSBORN’s Senate bid in Nebraska.”
“The backing from UAW President SHAWN FAIN is a boost to the mechanic, who rose to public attention as a union and strike leader and is mounting an … bid to unseat GOP Sen. DEB FISCHER.”
“We need candidates like Dan who aren’t afraid to be an independent voice for the working class in the halls of power,” said UAW President Shawn Fain. “It isn’t about your political party; it’s about taking the fight against corporate greed to Washington DC. As a union member, Dan knows all about that fight, and we’ve got his back.”
“It’s time for labor to get behind candidates who look like us, talk like us, and know the issues facing working class people,” said UAW Region 4 Director Brandon Campbell. “Let’s support candidates like Dan Osborn and invest in taking back the U.S. Senate for the working class.”
“This campaign is about standing up to the corruption and political games of both parties in Washington that have left working people behind,” said Dan Osborn. “With our brothers and sisters in the labor movement behind us, we are building a movement of working people to send someone to Washington who will fight for our interests, not the interests of a political party or a politician or a huge corporation that bankrolls campaigns. I’m not taking corporate money. I won’t be bought by any corporation or political party. In the Senate, I will put working people first – every single time.”

Organized labor groups joining the UAW in their endorsement of Osborn are:
United Steel Workers (USW);
United Association (UA);
International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (Machinists);
Communications Workers of America (CWA);
International Union of Elevator Constructionists, Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers & Grain Millers (BCTGM);
United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU);
Nebraska State AFL-CIO;
IBEW 1920;
Plumbers Local 16 in Omaha;
Sprinklerfitters Local 669;
Steamfitters and Plumbers Local 464.

Osborn has raised well over $1 million in his campaign for the US Senate, and two recent polls show Osborn within the margin of error against Republican incumbent Senator Deb Fischer.
