McCook Bison Fall After Big Comeback By Highway 6

McCook Varsity Bison could not hold onto the lead against Highway 6 on Monday and fell 19-10 despite leading by five at one point.
Despite the loss, McCook Varsity Bison did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Highway 6 had 17 hits on the way to victory.
McCook Varsity Bison got on the board in the top of the first inning after Ellie Havlicek doubled to center field, Karagynn Brown singled down the left field line, Carlie Rupp was struck by a pitch, Josilin Miller walked, and Hannah Peterson stole home, each scoring one run.
Highway 6 tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a ground out by Neveah Browitt, a double by #15, a double by Katherine Marshall, and a ground out by Breckynn Edgren.
In the top of the fourth, McCook Varsity Bison broke up the tie when Brown tripled, scoring one run. Then a dropped third strike by Highway 6 followed to extend the lead to 8-6.
Highway 6 flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 11-8. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Marshall that drove in three.
Highway 6 scored six runs on six hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Stella Birkestrand singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, #15 singled, scoring one run, Marshall doubled, scoring two runs, and Kaleah Boulware singled, scoring one run.
Addisyn Norris homered to center field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the Highway 6.
Havlicek led things off in the circle for McCook Varsity Bison. The starting pitcher surrendered 11 hits and nine runs (eight earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking one. #15 started in the circle for Highway 6. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and five runs over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking one.
Brown and Havlicek each collected two hits for McCook Varsity Bison. Brown and Havlicek each drove in two runs for McCook Varsity Bison. Miller led McCook Varsity Bison with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game.
Highway 6 accumulated 17 hits in the game. Marshall led Highway 6 with five runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The first baseman went 4-for-4 on the day. Birkestrand, McKinley Jauken, Browitt, and #15 each collected multiple hits for Highway 6. Alexa Hale stole two bases.
