McCook MNB Seniors Storm Back To Defeat Holdrege

McCook MNB Seniors rallied to best Holdrege 7-5 on Wednesday at Holdrege. McCook MNB Seniors trailed by as many as five runs during the game. Holdrege jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Josh Janssen singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Kegan Steinke singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. McCook MNB Seniors tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a single by Trey Tiller, a double by Quentin Terry, and a passed ball. McCook MNB Seniors took the lead in the top of the fifth. An error scored one run, to give McCook MNB Seniors the edge, 6-5. Tiller earned the win for McCook MNB Seniors. They surrendered four hits and five runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking none. Zac Sundquist took the loss for Holdrege. The reliever went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out five and walking five. Nicholas Weides stepped on the hill first for Holdrege. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and three runs over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking four. Tiller drove the middle of the lineup, leading McCook MNB Seniors with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Tripp Raile, McCook MNB Seniors number eight hitter, led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Terry collected two hits for McCook MNB Seniors in four at bats. Brody Graham led McCook MNB Seniors with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Steinke provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Holdrege with two runs batted in. They went 1-for-3 on the day. Steinke, Janssen, Chance Bailey, and JJ Bell each collected one hit for Holdrege.  McCook MNB Seniors return to action Saturday hosting Chappel at 12:00pm and Hastings at 7:30pm.
