Comments from Head Coach Matt Wiemers:
The regular season came to and end with a successful senior day. The varsity earned a hard fought 7-2 victory while the junior varsity earned a 9-5 victory. Very proud of the team with the focus and effort they played with. It was senior day and we want to have a good day on the courts to help get a win for our seniors.
Zane and Corbin played consistent tennis and earned a dominate 8-1 win. When those two are on, they are hard to beat.
We have seen great improvement in our junior varsity and we will return some solid players to help fill in the open varsity spots next fall. It will be fun to see who steps up and puts in the work to develop their game.
Here are the records of our varsity tennis participants at state next week:
1 Singles Caleb Sughroue 24-2
2 Singles Trev Wiemers 23-3
1 Doubles Cruz McCarty/TJ Puckett 12-14
2 Doubles Zane Montes/Corbin Shaw 12-9
State tournament opens next Wednesday in Lincoln at Woods Tennis at 12:00 and will continue through Friday.
