Red Flag Warning Issued

Key Message #1:
There is now an enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms (level 3 of 5) across parts of the area this afternoon and early evening. Thunderstorms are not expected to be widespread, with the focus being primarily near and north of Interstate 80. This looks like a late afternoon through early evening event (4 PM - 10 PM). All forms of severe weather will be possible, but large hail looks like the biggest threat.

Key Message #2:
While most of our 30-county forecast area will experience at least near-critical fire weather conditions this afternoon-early evening, an official Red Flag Warning (valid 12-9 PM) currently only includes our 6 Kansas counties and a couple of Nebraska counties along the Kansas border.
